I work at Walgreens across from Wal-Mart and I dont know if people are naive or whatever but like seriously people come to me and complain about prices I mean is it that bad? I mean I only work for the company but cheap people come in our store and act like were the highest place to shop because our prices are up by .25 or maybe .50 cents to walmarts and because we dont do the 1 for the price of 2 thing ( for example if u want something thats 2 for 5 dollars you have to buy 2 of that item). But anyways whats going on to me is that Wal-mart is trying to put every store out of business so what should I do? Im just sick and tired of hearing about Walmart being so cheap and people complaining, i only work the company. And basically what people dont get is that first and foremost were a drug store meaning a pharmacy, we are in competition with CVS and Eckerd (now Rite Aid lol). Does anyone here work at a major retail store that happens to be by walmart?

yea i have the same problem. i work at walgreens that is right across the street from target and theres a walgreens right down the street and people always complain to me about the prices. what i hate the most is that people will pick something up bring it to my counter and say "im not buying this but im just shocked that you guys have this for 2.99 and i can go to walmart and get it for 2.49" Like i really care! do give me that, now i just have to go and put it back! if you knew walmart was 2.49 you should have just bought it, now you wasted the gas that you could have spent on our same thing for .50 cents more!!

so yea it deffinetly bothers me!

Wal-Mart is there for one reason only, to make money. Their goal is to wipe out the competition. The way they do it is to make their prices lower. They lower the prices, people shop, they see tons of stuff that are significantly lower in price, they buy, this takes away from the community/local stores.
Wal-Mart has also been, blessed with the ability to talk to town/cities about MAJOR tax breaks as far as property goes, this makes them plant faster and keep their prices low. The end result is an unfair price advantage but great for the customer.
The other reason why Wal-Mart is usually loved is that they attract the other franchises to start building along side them. The end result, large department stores that do not compete for the same products/clientel. Thus enter the malls. The malls then wipe out any remaining hope other than a few die hards that struggle with people that don't understand the economics of it all. So once all competition is wiped, prices can slowly creep up, blame inflation, and make people now have no choice but to rely on the malls. Walgreens is just seeing what low waged employees, low insurance payments, low to no taxes from Wal-Mart can do with their prices, thus the whining from customers.
I remember when people used to feud over who was going to have a Wal-Mart in their area, now they wish it would burn to the ground.

Walgreen's in my town seems to be higher than the little pharmacies. not to include store prices are much higher than anything at Walmart or K Mart something simple like a mesh float was 5 bucks more than at Walmart, Although Walgreen's Photo studio is much better than anyone i have come across still a Little pricier but better quality. I am a comparison shopper with 7 Kids in the family the wife and I have to be concerned about prices and quality at he same time, and Walgreen's is not on our shopping category because of the high prices and 25 to 50 cents more is a lot when your shopping for a lot of items. Probably not the answer your looking for but Its the Truth same item for more money not gonna buy it so sorry.

Don't work at WalMart but have done a lot of work with them. Every business strives to take customers away from their competetion. One of the strengths of WalMart is the huge buying power that they have that no other chain can compete with. The Superstore concept, while a great idea, has in some ways pushed some customers away. For example I moved my medicine from WalMart to Walgreens which is within a block. Didn't want to deal with the crowds and the slowness of the process. Walgreens can't compete on the other stuff they sale in the store so you won't be able to do anything about the price issue. People will always complain about price.
