That song is called "Deuling Banjos" and it's old, famous, and not really connected to Deliverance other than being used twice during the film. It's more popular as a bluegrass anthem. And furthermore, why on earth would it strike fear into anyone? If anything it's a seductive, romantic song that should inspire male bonding. That's natural.

All I know is I wont be going on any canoeing trips ever!!

I first saw that film when i was just a kid, wasn't suppose to.

Loved the banjo music!

Scared to death of the hillbillies.
