I've been bullied as long as I can remember. Even now, people feel like they have the right to talk to me in any tone they choose and yet, I get pounced on when I make the most simpering of remarks.
I've been beated up, spit on, clothes ripped, pushed down stairs, chewing gum in my hair, blackmailed, nearly set on fire, mugged ... silent phone calls.
Insulted, shouted at, barked at, had my decisions reversed (an aunt persuaded my parents that I was too useless and stupid to stay on into the sixth form and I would just be wasting everyone's time.
Why don't I fight back? It's all been goin on since I was about six years old .... 35 years of being told you're stupid/usless/wrong/an idiot etc takes its toll and I have very low self-esteem.
I know that I'm the bottom of the pile and everyone else is better than me .... something that's shocked the few people I've told.

yes, i was bullied phisically and emotionally when i was younger, this went on right up untill my late teens, but you know what, i went off to college and did several training courses, met and fell in love with my now hubby of 15 years, and i still live in the same community as the bullies, but i am like you i just brush them of my shoulders, i look at my life and theirs i am the one who is much happier, some of them don't have nice homes loving partners or a good job, i have all these and a clear concience that i never bullied anyone.xx

Not only one but a group of them. These were the girls I used to hang out with in high school. They were bad influence so I shyed away from them. Then they started taunting me. I had to face them everyday for 3 whole years of my life. But I survived. I'm 30 yrs old and I still have nightmares from time to time.

I'm lucky that I've never been bullied. also I'm quite a forceful character so wouldn't fall into that victim trap - I'm quite assertive and outspoken. Most of the time bullies are just stupid insecure people.

Bullies should be treated harshly. They can make life for their victims a living hell. Bullies need to be expelled from school, and if their actions are particularly violent or organized, then they need to be charged with assault and treated as an adult.

I only had one bully in my life. So young & yet so evil. I dealt with him eventually. Gave him a b**ch slapping he'll never forget. I never saw him again on the next semester.
