for example:

if you live in UK, the law states you can only have 1 wife
as we are aware some religions allow more than 1 wife
if this person lives in UK, can he have a British passport, and in fact, should he even be allowed to live in UK when he is disobeying the law ?

[how anyone would want more than 1 wife is beyond me - imagine double the nagging - including 2 mother-in-law's !!]

The law of the land is paramount, religion comes second. Therefore in the UK more than one wife or husband is bigamy. (as you say, at least you avoid all that extra nagging!)

Funny, I would not be down with sharing my husband either.

When people change the country they choose to live in, they have to do so with the understanding that they have to adhere to the laws of that country, without exception.

If this is not an option for them, then they need to stay where their believes, and traditions can be freely practiced according to their own laws.

We would have to respect their way of life as well when visiting, or working in their country.

the thought of two mother in laws should be enough to put anyone off that idea. in the UK there is no exeption you can't have two wives is biggamy nor anymore than that.
so law comes first though, seeks are alowed to carry a dagger no more than 2.5" i think but i trust seeks mostly

Should be the law of the land Religion should always come second. Pity an awful lots of religious zealots don't see it this way.

I guess it just depends on who's rules you choose to abide by more....if choose to live your live according the the plans of your God, then His rules come first, then ones invented by man fall to second.
