Is your male doctor a GYN doctor? If he isn't, and you already know that it is most likely a female problem, you would be best to go to a GYN doctor for help. They are specialist in female problems. You can find many of them that are females and good ones too. If your doctor is just a family doctor, you can request a visit to a GYN to have female problems checked and they usually do not mind and will just get you a referal. If they do the referals, you can request that they pick a female GYN for you. If you still have to see the male doctor, you can request a nurse on his staff to remain in the room during your checkup. That is your right by law. That way you will be ok and feel safer during your exam. Also, you should check to see if there is a female PA (Physician's Assistant) on his staff. Sometimes doctor offices have PA's that work in there too and they can check you out for him. Then if they have a question about your medical situation they just go ask him and then finish your treatment. That may be a possibility too. Just remember, men doctors have treated women patients for centuries because there used to never be female doctors. They don't even concern themselves with what they see, honestly. They are in there specifically to care for your pain and hurts and that is all, and if you tell them you feel uncomfortable, they will help you around those inhibitions because you are not the first patient they have seen that have had those similar feelings.
