Our presence is needed. Maybe not the the extent that it is now. But we need to keep a close eye on our interests all over the world.

We will never leave Iraq, and if we do, we'll still be there in one way or another.
We have many bases in Iraq, all of which run along the oil pipeline. My what a coincidence--NOT.
We still have bases in Vietnam and Okinawa.
We won the war when we removed Saddam, now it's just a terrorist occupation due to oil and war profiteering, although we claim we are there to keep them from destroying themselves, but that tactic isn't working.
The U.S.A. military has become terrorists themselves because of conducting unauthorized search and seizure, raids of homes at any hours of the day, rapes, etc.
Guantanamo Bay is a torture chamber, plain and simple. Some of the men in that facility are there without suspicion of criminal activity. They are just there as filler to make the U.S.A. military seem as if they are doing something productive.
How would you like it if you had your home raided at any hour of the day, or your sister was raped and murdered in front of your eyes, and you were either killed or forced to watch? How would you like it if you were delivering pizza to a home and were shot to death while driving cause you didn't understand the English or body language of the U.S.A. military?
Unfortunately crude oil is so valuable, that people are willing to commit genocide over it and start revolutionary wars. IT IS that valuable.

We will remain in Iraq for decades, or perhaps even generations, to protect "our interests" - which is a polite way of saying we'll be there until we've sucked every drop of OIL from Iraq's sands.
That's why we're building the largest U.S. embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the "new" Iraqi puppet government installed by the Bush administration.
That's why Halliburton has contracted to build fourteen (yes - 14) new permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq.
Americans comprise only 5% of the global population, yet we squander 55% of the world's resources - and we seem to feel it's in "our interests" to take whatever we want, even if it means 675,000 Iraqis die and 4,000 U.S. soldiers die.
This 'war' was never about defending our shores against an enemy that in any way threatened, provoked or attacked the U.S.A.; this 'war' was never about bringing democracy to Iraq or establishing peace in the Middle East, as our soldiers were conned into believing. This 'war' is - and was from Day One - all about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING. Pure and simple. -RKO- 07/24/07
