If I cash check (not put in my account) at the bank and send this person money and the check which had a Company name on it doesn't go through who is liable? It's been over a week now and I just wondered and would like a reply asap.
Thank you

I'm afraid if the cheque is dishonoured you are responsible since it was written out to you. You should not cash cheques and send the money to someone else until you are sure the cheque has cleared. If it goes bad you will just have to learn a lesson from this.

You are liable for the missing funds. Since you undoubtedly had to provide identification in order to cash this check, the casher will come back after you if the check fails to clear the bank upon which it was drawn.

From the little you have posted, I fear you may have been the victim of a scam. If you regularly read postings on Yahoo Answers, you will discover that this is a common scam, and many have been taken advantage of in this manner.

You've been scammed. The person you sent the money to is long gone. SO is the "company". You see them reported here every day. COntact the bank and your local police.

I doubt that the bank will swallow it... I'd report it to www.fraud.org and www.ftc.gov. They also have hotline numbers you can call for info.
