From my experiences, I get that kind of feeling when I'm isolating myself from others.
We are social creatures, if you fill your life only with working, than you can feel something is missing in your life.
Maybe life is **** indeed, but if you have friends, lover, companions to share your life, your experience together then you would not feel it that bad.
Improve your social life.
Perhaps, you didn't enjoy your work at all, or you don't realize the meaning of your work for others.
My understanding so far is, that our mission in this world is simple, contribute something good to this world, or at least our family, and while doing so, enjoy our stay in this place.

The philosophical question "What is the meaning of life?" means different things to different people.
