The key point would be the naming along with reasons or special sentiment connected with the name. You could ask a special person to 'Sponsor' the event. Normally it's a female connected to the name or it's tradition.

If you are going to launch the vessel that's definitely significant. If it's already in the water you could raise a flag or ensign upon assigning the name.
