I am in my forties, do you think it is acceptable for me to have my bra staps showing under a vest top? My daughter tells me I shouldn't. I would only do it with a bra that matched my top, not an old grey white one. Does it matter what age you are?
p.s. I am size 14 if that makes a difference.

I dont mean intentionally showing the straps, I just mean that they are difficult to keep covered with some tops and I would only do it with a bra with pretty straps.

Its a load of boll*cks. If you wants to wear a vest top your entitled to.
Would she prefer you walked around without a bra on?
At the end of the day your a woman and it doesnt matter what age you are you have breasts and breasts need support.
And if the ba matches your top she should see that your at least making an effort.
You do what you want to do YOUR the mother!
(Im 18 by the way)
Oh and if its warm you could always wear a bikini bra? Get the same support but not actually show your undies?

You know what, i never thought the showing of a bra strap was made such a big deal. I know tons of people that just opt for a matching bra colour to go with the top, to make it less likely be noticed.
Your daughter is obviously made uncomfortable by the fact your showing a strap. Maybe the style of top, is to blame also, alot of camisole style tops are very low cut both at front and side on. You could be showing more cleavage than you already know.

You can now get these bra's which have clear straps. They are designed to be worn under strappy vest tops, cami's, t shirts, dresses, in fact anything at all. Tey have them in all the shops and catalogues.
I dont think its looks nice to see bra straps poking out from a vest top, but i dont think that anyone would stand there scrutinizing it.

I don't see that it matters too much if they show slightly, I mean it's not exactly your fault, would you daughter prefer you didn't wear a bra with a vest top- which would look even worse.
If the straps match the top that's fine, it won't matter too much or if your daughter really doesn't like it, get clear straps. I don't really see why she cares so much to be honest..

I am 40ish also... here's my 2 cents.... I would say no. Even when it was all the style it's still a rather tacky look. There are bras that have clear straps that are pretty darn close to invisible.
Yes, I think it does matter what age you are. I think somewhere in our mid 30s we hit that time where we need to quit trying to dress like a college co-ed (ie time to grow up... sexy doesn't have to be trashy)... and flashing bra straps was def a college age trend.
your size doesn't matter ref. this look unless we're looking at bra size... face it, the spaghetti strap look is kind of trashy on a woman who's more well endowed.

Find those bras that have the clear plastic straps. They look better than the strap bra showing.

I think that bra straps showing on persons of any age is just trashy! It's never acceptable. They make strapless bras for a reason.

Christina, good afternoon. I would be inclined to agree with your daughter in that such things shouldn't be showing. In the least, it would look untidy, less elegant.
I'm not into knowing much about ladies fashions and trends but I'm sure there are such things as strapless bra's that wouldn't present such a problem.
I wouldn't imagine age or build would make any difference, so don't fret on that score. Just be happy being comfortable.

Yes you can show your bra straps!!! What are you gonna do in the hot weather?? Wear a jumper?
Your daughter gets embarressed cos your her mum thats all lol. Just tell her you'll either show bra straps, or you wont wear a bra at all! I'm sure she'll deal at the straps!!!
