Well. It was once thought that 'mechanization' would lead to unemployment as "robots" would take the place of people.

Guess what? This didn't happen. What happened was that the 'robots' had to be built and employed more people then lost their jobs by being replaced by machines.

More goods were produced at reduced prices and thus demand increased.
