If you dont need alot of rides often, or if you do things for this freind then probably not. On the otherhand if its a ride a week and she is the only one providing help that costs her money then yes. You would offer at least the price of gas and usually a little extra to say you appreciate her. Another option altogether that will come across as very sweet and endearing but might cost you a little more is to buy her lunch. Either that day or very soon after.

It's always nice to at least offer to pay for gas because they are going out of they're way for u. It doesn't matter if it's 20 minutes away, just offer to give her $10 to pay for the gas if she says no either insist she take it or if u have to go again say to her " OK but the next time I'm paying for the gas or taking u out to lunch"
Because it's just custody, it's a way to show that Ur grateful that they were kind to do this.
U would be surprised to learn that whenever someone does something nice for u and u don't show Ur gratitude the way they will talk about u to others and it gets back to u U feel bad or upset.
I'm not saying Ur friend will talk about u if u don't offer to at least pay for gas or take her to lunch for taking u to Ur appt, but u don't want there to be a little awkwardness or her to think in the back of her head Ur ungrateful.
So offer to pay for the gas or do something nice that way if u need her again she'll know Ur good for it

I would offer to pay her gas money (maybe $20). If I was driving someone somewhere I would turn down the offer of gas money, but if they didn't at least offer, I would think twice about doing them the favor the next time. Especially if I was going out of my way for that person

I would offer like $10 -15. Sure, it's probably not enough to pay for gas, but she's doing you a favor... This way, it's a nice compromise. You aren't being ungrateful and taking her for granted by not paying at all, and she isn't being presumptuous by expecting you to pay without a prior arrangement. But that's just me.
If she doesn't take the money, don't insist, that's for sure.
(edit)
LMAO I've had the movie for a long time, and I've been meaning to watch it. It's one of the most thought-provoking and emotional movies I've ever seen. (But as I said, I'm no fan of movies...)
I'd definitely recommend it, though. If you aren't the type to HAVE to watch it OVER AND OVER until you understand. Because you won't. (Yes I'm aware that is a fragment.)

I'd offer, and have done with friends. She'll either say yes or no, but she should be grateful you asked as it shows you're thinking of her and not wanting to take advantage. What's the worst that can happen? She says yes and you shell out some cash.

Why do you want to pay your friend at the first place?
It she is your friend and if she is very willing to help you to give you a ride, why should you pay then?
But of coz, if you are not very close to her, you should at least offer her the payment because you really want to thank her!!
In my case, when I needed a ride to the airport, whenever I wanted my friend to give me a ride, he will be very willing to, because since we are good friends and perhaps, this is what friend (who has a car) for!!

Hi, i think it is only fair for you to offer your friend something for driving you there and back again. You will probably find that your friend won't accept anything anyway, but it comes down to common courtesy to offer.

if she really a friend, she doesnt need your pay. But be open. Aks her if you can do more for her or ask her if you need to cover the petrol to go here nad there and approximate how much will it be. Or i f your friend is really needed to be paid ( i have this kind of friend) just simply ask how much.
