The last time you Brits tried to restrict freedoms...well...look up Cornwallis and Yorktown.

I think that the Americans are very close to the point where they can be offered full rights to freedom of speech. My only outstanding concern relates to their choices of political leaders which seem bizarre to say the least eg. George W, Arnie, Bill Pullman and Ronald Reagan etc.

Very funny Sid. All that flag waving has given the 'Shermans' a sore shoulder to punch whenever you feel you need a laugh. I like the Americans as a rule though so go easy on them eh?
It's ironic isn't it. They all pick out 'learnt' as though it's spelt incorrectly when it isn't.
I learned English.
I have learnt English.
Both are correct, so I suggest they all give it a try.

Britain doesn't own America remember we kicked your *** back in 1776 and took care of that problem and earned the right to freedom of speech which is also the reason you were allowed to ask your less than intelligent Question. So the answer is NO

This is so funny.
The best answers are the ones quoting George Bernard Shaw and telling you (an Englishman) that you don't speak English properly!
I am loving this! You really know how to get them going.

On the contrary, British people have a long way to go with English. Often, when they get to the crucial part of a sentence, they'll realize that they don't know the correct words, so they'll (evidently) just make some silly ones up...
They also seem to have a lot of trouble with pronunciation, because they can't move their jaw muscles, because of malnutrition caused by wisely refusing to eat British food, much of which was manufactured in medieval times during the reign of King Walter the Mildly Disturbed.

Considering the fact that you neither capatalized nor punctuated correctly, the innacuracy of your spelling is appalling, and the quality of your sentence structure is way below average; I'd say that you should purchase a copy of "Hooked on Phonics," and stop posting such ridiculous questions.

Ah Sid, there you are, I thought you finally discovered Internet porn. I hate to be the one to brake it to you old man, but America is owned by the Saudis. Until you find huge deposits of oil underneath Wembley Stadium, the closest you'll ever come to owning America is an old receipt, voided in 1776.
While we're on the subject, have you Brits ever gotten over a Yank buying Man U.

boy, i WISH you had the power to do somthing about the way some of us attempt to put a sentence together..i live in st. louis, mo. i don't understand how we all live in the same area, attend the same schools, watch the same tube, yet half of the folks around here speak in broken, bad english..anywho, that's not why i'm here, now is it? if all brits had the same horrible attitude towards the United States as you do, it makes me wish we had let the Germans have you in world war II.

Oh don't hate us because we are not stuck up on some anachronistic idea of "Proper" language.
The dialect of English I use contains Korean, Spanish, polish, German, french, dutch, Japanese and Chinese words.
I think we are more well rounded and expressive as a language than the stuffy old limeys that creak along your halls of learning would like to believe.
But to paraphrase an old quote, "Americans and the British are divided by a common language."
