Well it all depends on your age. B'coz at the age of 12 to18 if we play lots of basketball then there are chances that your height may grow upto 2 to 3 inches. There is a good reason behind this b'coz the bones in our limbs are not completely occified, and there are regions in the bones which usually grow fast as you practice or when u play outdoor games.
While playing this game there is lots of stretch done by u on your limbs.
This stretch will increase the height of your bones from inside that will automatically make your legs longer.
Even i am a sport person and my height is 5.9.
So believe me that height can be increased.
But if u r aged and want to increase ur height then it might be a tuff job buddy.
At such situation u can have products available in the market which increases the height. There is a mat like product in the market on which if u walk or usually exercise, then there are certain areas below our feet which are the sences for height.
If those areas are really activated then there may be increase of the height but not much may be of around 1 inch.
So all the best

my youngest brother ask me this question when he realised that he was not as tall as the rest of his friends...my advice to you would be the same i gave him years ago...
"playing basketball will not make you taller but holding on to the post for as long as you can for two or three times a week just might do the trick..."
the excercise stretches your arms and body as you on...gravity will do the work for you...
he did grow taller...by about 5inches

Nothing like that.

You may need to practice more which ultimately lead you to do more physical works like skipping etc.

This is the reason behind this saying.

No...if anything you would be getting shorter due to the compression of your joints from jumping and sprinting.

But seriously..thats genetic.
