Personally, very little bothers me about what people choose to wear or not wear. However, as you can see from some answers, it does bother some people (a lot). That is why most schools and colleges have some kind of dress code for teachers and students.

No, it'd have been cool because then I probably would've followed suit, I'm a full-time barefooter now but I didn't know anyone who went barefoot in public and the idea never occurred to me until I was almost 29 years old.

Distracting? We had NO dress code in school; one (male) biology teacher wore a kaftan dress and several students wore brightly colored mohawks and other such things. It wasn't distracting; well it was for about two minutes when someone first came in with it, then we looked, said 'cool' or 'yuck', then went on with whatever we were doing. While I didn't go barefoot back then and never knew anyone who did that, I'm glad I went to a school where I was taught not to make a big deal out of someone's choice of dress. I think that's a much more important lesson to learn than to 'dress for success'. Just my .02 of course...

Teachers' salaries are ridiculously low in contrast to all the work they do (especially the ones who go above and beyond), so I say they have every right to go barefoot if they want to, ESPECIALLY if their feet are swoolen.

yes it does bother if a teacher goes to school barefoot as it totally unprofessional for a teacher to come barefooted as it will distract the students

No.
What difference does it make?
You should be concentrating on what comes out of their mouth, not what is on their feet.

yes it does.

it's so weird if a teacher is dressed up and then he/she goes around barefoot. it distracts the student.
