no. None have run for the office yet.
If you don't play, you can't win. If you don't run, you can't win. If you don't try, you never win.

The fact of that matter is that prejudice against Black people in America is still widespread enough that, even if a qualified candidate were to run, he would be unlikely to win. Likewise for any ethnic group other than white.
An exception: Colin Powell, if he had run for president instead of Bush Jr., would likely have won. He had great respect among the military and was widely admired by the general population as well. Unfortunately for us, but probably fortunately for him, he did not want to run. I know of no other Black person who had or has the potential to swing the prejudiced vote to his side.

I think Jesse Jackson took a stab at it didnt he?
At any rate...America will never catch up to the rest of the world and have either a black person or a female as president cause we dont accept such people to rule us....at least thats the deep dark hidden secret everyone knows but nobody talks about

Several Blacks have run for President from Republican, Democrat and Independent parties. There has not yet been one to make it past the primaries. Also 'America has yet to catch up to the rest of the world'? So who was the last black to run UK? France? Spain? Canada? I don't believe the rest of the civilized world is throwing their weight behind black politicians either (not that this is a justification merely preventing unfair America bashing)

There have been many non-whites and females run for President. Eventually we will have both. It is not so much a biogtry by the voters as it is the qualifications and positions of those running.

No, but there's one in the running now for the next election. His name is Barack Obama, he's a democrat and he has some very interesting things to say. I hope people will listen and give him a chance to be heard!
