When i was younger i thought as soon as i wasn't able to do the normal everyday things , but as i have gotten older the thought of dying is not so appealing.

Absolutely dreadful, Dennis, I agree.
Both my wife's mother and my own went through that and it was awful.
As to your question, it depends on how long you can keep healthy, keep your marbles and - most important of all - be needed and interested in life.
At my age, (70), many people are already old. Me? I'm still healthy, enthusiastic and doing a few hours a week of the work I love. I feel loved and needed.
I'd be happy to carry on like this to a hundred or more.
But if I get to be like the poor old people in the homes you speak of, well, gimme a plastic bag, I'll put it over my own head. LOL
Great question

At the exact point I no longer function properly and become a burden to my family.
If I am no longer in a position to feed, dress, use the toilet etc on my own then get me out of here.

You appear to be under the impression that humans only live for a certain time and that they age. Bless the Innocence.

Less an age more a state of faculties and how they are deteriorating. When life becomes unbearable many would prefer it to end.

I think as soon as I become a burden to some one and can't look after myself and I'm on my own...with no future in life. It's time to go!

As soon as I loose my faculties and need to depend on someone else, it's time to go, with dignity.
