No, your baby is not seeing ghosts. At 6 weeks a baby can't see too much and they certainly don't understand that you are supposed to talk to people rather than objects.

Chances are that he is cooing at the bar in his crib or anything else that is contrasting in his vision and not a ghost.

First it sounds like your baby is going through normal development. Don't forget everything is brand new to babies and they don't know what they can communicate with or not. Everything from a shadow on the wall to the texture of the ceiling is new and interesting and they want to express their like or dislike of it.

But, I do believe babies can see things that adults have been taught not to believe in. Babies were never taught that having just been born and all. So your son very well could be seeing ghosts or angels. Babies are a very good judge of character I think they can smell the bad or good in people. If your son doesn't seem scared or frightened then I wouldn't be worried.

The house I live in has a ghost I am pretty sure. If I put music on random it will still only play Norah Jones or Alison krauss. Also It has opened the bathroom window and comes in to the kitchen and bangs around on occasion. Once in a while I know the ghost goes into check on my now 2 year old son because the door will be wide open and I heard the door click when I left. Also if my son has been crying and this happens the ghost soothes my son because he will stop crying before I get there. Good luck!

My daughter is now 16 but when she was 2 she used to play in her room and have full conversations with someone and when I would ask her who she was playing with she would say the pincushion man. A couple of times when she was sleeping she would have conversations with Bill. We didn't have a Bill in our lives, she knew no Bill.

One day we were in the grocery store and she grabbed my hand and said, Mommy, a pin cushion lady like my Bill.

Bill was my elderly grandfather who passed while I was pregnant. She called a face with wrinkles a pin cushion.

All that by the time she was 2 1/2, and now when me and my Dad talk about Grandpa we are both amazed that she seems to have known him. My Grampa was watching over her and I think my husbands Grandmother watches over my son.

Welcome the Ghosts or angels, our little ones need all the protections they can get.

Well I personally believe that babies can see thing we can't see.My grandmother passed away before my son was born and when I would go to her house he would always stare at her rocking chair and now that he's oa little older and can crawl he goes to the chair and won't budge he smiles and laughs when we go to the cemetary and he used to stare at nothing to whn I would be feeding him and yes it is creepy but I don't doubt it at all.

My friend moved into a house that a murder took place in and her children used to sit in the room and talk for hours and they would say they were playing with a little girl named sophia well my friend did some research and foun out that a 6 year old girl named sophia had been killed by her father along with her mother and little brother who was only 3 mos. old.needless to say she moved but the point is it can happen and if your baby does see something I doubt it will hurt him.

Congrats on the new baby!!!
I hope my info is useful and I hope I don't scare you I'm telling the truth.

Whilst I think that babies will be interested in staring at the walls and other seemingly boring things, we have to remember that everything is new to them and their focus is developing and changing and perhaps they also get overstimulated and need to look at something a little gentler on their senses.

however, I also think that babies in their innocence of the world and the universe must be able to see more than we do.

When my daughter was a year old an capable of much language comprehension but little verbal skills, she was engrossed in something over in our hallway where cats have always stared with great interest. suddenly, her eyes followed whatever it was across the room to a new place. She was quite happy with whatever she saw. I decided to go for it, although not wanting to lead her on too much, and asked 'what can you see? is it a man?' and she shook her head. 'Is it a lady?' and she nodded. So I said, 'wave, then!' and she waved and blew a kiss.

well i've heard that being able to see spirits and ghosts comes easier when the person or being has more energy and this is said to include children and pregnant women so it could be possible but it also could be the fact that his eye sight isnt fully developed and he's just trying to focus on some fuzzy object - and if its a ghost/spirit and he's smiling and cooing at it it probably isnt going to hurt him - it could be his guardian or a relative of yours who has passed

I'm of the belief that babies can see ghosts/spirits because they haven't yet been told not to believe in them. My sister died when my baby brother was two and he would sit under the table for hours talking and playing and when you asked him who he was talking to he would say her name. My daughter who is three months happily coos and smiles at "nothing" and i truly believe that it is my sister visiting the neice she never got to "meet". It makes sense - i often "ask" my sister to look after my baby and not "let" anything happen to her etc.

If you're baby is seeing a ghost and is smiling and happy then i'd doubt it was one that wanted to "hurt" him - probably someone watching over your baby :)

I guess they do.

My son is 7 months old when he was scared of my brother. My grandma explained that maybe in one of the baby's dreams, he saw a ghost resembling his uncles face...

I am not sure if they had seen one. Babies can not distinguished ghost from human. If they saw somebody who will frightened them, that may be a ghost for them.

baby's vision is not yet fully developed, he may be entertained by shadows or blurred images/colors that he sees... and alot of the cooing and smiling is just muscle reflexes that newborns have.

i briefly wondered that myself with my newborn.
