Best example - Vatican City. Separated from Italy in 1929. It is even more so as it probably could previously be described as a district of Rome.

Hong Kong was a British Colony. It transferred back to China in 1997. So it is part of China and has more powers than most regions of China for the next 40 years. But, that is not a City State anymore, (or if it even was as a colony) as China definitely owns it.

Monaco is the next closest. But it is closely tied with France.

Geneva in Switzerland is still a city state to a large degree. It is a member of the Swiss confederation, but most of what affects the residents' lives is decided by the city.

If you are referring to states that are city states of today I would say the following.

Monaco

St Martin

Andorra

Lichtenstein

Luxembourg

Malta

Gibraltar?
