After England's frustration yesterday on drawing the test match that they deserved to win, do you think there should always be a result in a test match by adding on a day by the time lost to rain and bad light. Some people may not agree with this but i feel those 5 days were a waste of time and pointless!

Sorry mate, but personally I'm happy with 5 days, its just the way it goes sometimes, and generally if the team is good enough you should be able to get the job done in 5 days-like the Aussies white washing the English 5-0 where all the games were won in 3 or 4 days,i say keep it to 5 days because sometimes a draw can make a series very interesting and it adds that unknown factor.

1. Well Stevieboy, cricket is the only game on this Earth that is played for 5 days and still no result is guaranteed!!

2. We must realise that Test match is the real test of a cricketers true abilities both as a bowler and batsman ... and fielding (though sharper fielding is required in One dayers)

3. In todays world of instant gratification, Test matches are fast losing their significance for the viewers and fans, if not for the players themselves. This is quite evident from the empty stands in the various stadia around the world.

4. One dayers have made cricket popular for nations across the world as far as Netherlands and Canada and Bermuda. Test match cricket is seen by many other countries as the game of the elite.

5. Such teams can hope to beat the 8 big-wigs in One day cricket only.

6. If we have to make cricket a truly international sport like Soccer (played by every single nation on this Earth) then it has to be shorter, faster and result oriented. Test match cricket fails miserably on all three parameters.

Even 5 days are long enough and as such I do not think there shoul.d be another day. It is not the first time the outcome of a test match has been influenced by the rain and there have been many instances where a team was deprived of a certain win due to intervention of rain and bad weather and one has to live with it.

i believe tht a day must me removed instead of adding coz the game becomes too slow and boring. how about canceling the idea of tests matches.....

look at soccer, basket-ball, and other games. they r short and more exciting. a long game becomes boring especially a game that continues for 5 days and a result is not guaranteed. or else a rule shud be made that will help to make a decision when a result is not guaranteed

it would be just like extending somebody's life by sometime.. so that to compensate the time taken in his resting because of illness, accidents throughout the life........
i think the question is rooted from the latest india england drawn test match.... but we should remember that we can do nothing about rain..... ok tell me one thing.. it is considered that your suggestion has been accepted by ICC... it's a 6 day test match... now.... if on the 6th day india were 9 down in the last inning of the match & it begun raining............ i think u would suggest now for 7 day test match....... lol..

one of my friend has said here..... had cricket been a shorter, faster & a result oriented game it also would have been widely accepted game across the world........ well he is right!!! but this is not a viable reason which caused non acceptance of this game world wide... according to my perception cricket is a costlier game than any of the widely accepted game & for quite a long time it was confined in the grasslands of riches......... ANYTHING SHORTER, FASTER & RESULT ORIENTED IS WIDELY ACCEPTED & APPRECIATED BUT IN TERMS OF CRICKET IT DOESN'T FOLLOW....... COZ THEY WHO PLAY CRICKET ARE SOMEWHAT ACCUSTOMED & PASSIONED WITH THE ANCIENT RULES & REGULATIONS OF THE GAME.......... DOESN'T MATTER THE ONE DAYERS & 20 20s ARE MORE ACCEPTED...

1 day added to the game would help out the teams more.
