The way it works is that the parties have a convention the summer before the general election. The conventions will be next summer. Prior to the conventions the states each have primary elections. Each state send member of the parties to the conventions to vote for each party's candidate. We won't know until then, unless someone makes a huge mistake and no one wants that person anymore.
There will a Democrat against a Republican. There will probably be a third party candidate, like the Greens had Ralph Nader in 2000 or Ross Perot and his party, whose name I've forgotten, who got 20% of the vote and Clinton then beat Bush Sr.
Hillary Clinton and Obama run against each other as Democrats in the primaries. Who the Democrat candidate is will be decided at the Convention.

There are two major parties in the United States- the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Each of these parties chooses one candidate to run on the Presidential ticket. At the moment neither party has made this decision as yet, but rather they are debating about who that candidate should be. Both Clinton and Obama are trying to convince people that they are the best candidate for the Democratic Party. Soon (early next year) there will be elections (what are called primaries) in each state, held by each party, to select their candidate. Each party will hold a convention next summer to officially declare which person will be the candidate for each party. In the Democratic Party only one will be chosen to run for President of the United States. Then this Democratic candidate will run against the candidate the Republicans chose (in the same way), to determine who will actually be the President.
Obama and Clinton are of the same party- the Democratic Party. They will only run against each other until one of them (or someone else) is chosen as the Democratic Parties Candidate.

Its not just Obama and Hilary, those a just 2 of many from the democrats that are wanting to be president. They have primaries starting next year. Each state votes or chooses 1 candidate, the one with the most states or delegates is nominated to run against the republican that went through the same process. Those are the 2 main parties but there are others, libitarians, green party, independants and others.
Right now Obama and Hilary have raised the most money and are leading so they get more attention.

No, they are but two that are running to represent the Democratic party! Only one person will run for president!
Likewise, the Republicans will put up a candidate using the same process, which ends at their convention!
There are other candidates representing other factions , but none usually can even get on the ballots in all 50 states (there are actually 46, and 4 Commonwealths)!
Now are you really confused?

Hey John P....that was a pretty RUDE response.
The asker of this question is obviously a British friend. I bet you don't know a damn thing about the Parliament either.
Consider the source of the question before you spew your hate rhetoric next time. I will excuse you this time due to your youthful ignorance.
To the asker....I apologise for my rude and immature countryman.
