How did Lily finally fall for James? In all the books she seem the hate him calling him a bully and conceited. I don't think i ever read in the books that she harbored any fond fellings for James at all. Unless I missed it... does anybody know which book it tells how Lily finally fell for James? Or does anybody have any ideas?

I don't think knowing how they fell in love would bring down the story.... If anything Harry would want to know as well.

or narrow the appeal, or the reading audience. People as well as Harry would and want to know. I think J.K. Rowling made a small mistake in not adding this

J.K. never shows us how, but Harry asks Sirius and Lupin this same question in book 5. Basically, what they told him was that James grew up (as we all do,) and as he did, he became less conceited and bullying (except maybe towards Severus, and he never let Lily see that.)

1. Harry was a baby when his parrents were killed, he probably didn't see them.. there has been dispute over this 2. Yes, they did come back, read it again 3. He was a powerful dark magic user, maybe he knew a spell, or, he was lying. harry potters parents are dead. If they weren't, Harry Potter would be dead.

It never does go deep into it. It may have been a bit too soft and mushy, anyway. I don't know how JKR would go with a love story sub plot. She skirted around all the possibilities in all of the books. The relationship parts of the books seemed at best, shallow, and at worst, awkward. I'm glad she avoided it, it would have narrowed the appeal, and the reading audience.

In book 5, Remus and Sirius tell Harry that Lily came around to liking James in their 7th year when he shrunk his head a bit and quit being so stuck up and jinxing everyone who annoyed him. After seeing Snape's memory of his father in the pensieve Harry is concerned that his father may have tricked her with magic. If you have read the 7th book that memory has a different signifigance for Severus than it seemed to the first time we saw the memory.
