Tampons: Well I am now on my period and fed up with pad. I have kind of just avoided them since I got my period about 2 years ago. So my question is: Are tampons better than pads? And are the hard to put in? And also do the protect me from leakege more than pads? Any advice or opinion would be great! :)

Goddess,
Tampons are a little less messy, but do occasionally leak. If you have heavier bleeding during the first few days of your periods, you might want to try a tampon and a pad, especially at night. Tampons are not hard to insert, and there is an instruction sheet in each box to help you understand the process. Just like pads, tampons have different sizes for you to choose from. You have to experiment with the sizes to find what works best for you.

In my experience, the better (and unfortunately, more expensive) brands are superior in many ways. The cheaper store brands mimic the better brands, but don't quite perform as well. Good luck,

This all depends on how heavy your period is. There are different tampons you can try. As far as learning to put them on, it really depends on your particular shape/opening. For some women, it's fairly simple. The directions are in each package. You might try two or three different types, but you'll definitely know when you've found just the right one. You might want to ask a few of your girlfriends for their opinions and experience with them. If any of them are wearing tampons it might be a good idea to ask them if you can have one or two so that you can practice with them. This way you don't have to buy a whole package and not be happy with it, plus, you won't be wasting money to experiment a little. By the way, remember to change them regularly. And, yes, depending on the tampon, leakage is a lot less frequent, but you might want to use a panty liner along with the tampon. Good luck!

I prefer tampons over pads. With a tampon you can go swimming and do active stuff. Pads tend to leak. You can wear a tampon for up to 8 hrs depending on your flow. They are easy to put in just read the instructions.
I really hate wearing pads. I feel like I'm wearing a diaper. Ewww!!!

Goddess -- IMO tampons are far superior to pads, but they are not completely leak free. You have to change them regularly and you should probably wear a panty liner along with them in case you have an odd flow (i have a girlfriend who only bleeds on one side -- she complains about it because she'll "spill over" into her panty and when she checks, her tampon will be fully soaked on one side and still white on the other) .

You should also google Toxic Shock Syndrome. It's some good info to know.

Tampons have always been my choice. Learning to put them in right can be alittle challenging at first, but practice and you will find that it is easy. The key is to relax. They do not protect you from leaks though. Once a tampon has reached its capacity, it will leak. You will need to change them every 3 to 8 hours. Depending on your flow. You need to try them to see if they will work for you.

Tampons are the way to go! Pads always leak for me at night...thats why I dislike them. I wear tampons at night and set an alarm to wake me up to change it, since you are only supposed to have it in for 6-8 hours.
