Tans at any time are sun damage, you do know that, right? The added issue of tanning while pregnant is that you may get too hot, and your baby cannot regulate his or her temperature, so by the time you get hot, your baby could be waaay too hot. I'd use a sunless tanner, but even that probably needs to be okayed by your doctor.

It can't really harm you or the baby, but because of your hormonal change, you are much much more likely to burn. Even if you've never burned before, you most likely have a better chance of burning. I have an olive skin tone so I don't burn much ever and when I do, it's just my shoulders and face. After I had my daughter the doctor advised me not to go out in the sun for 6 months without proper protection. I went out in the sun after 4 months and got burned everywhere-- shoulders, face, legs, knees. It wasn't pleasent. Spending time in the sun is no problem, just make sure you monitor your time and wear sunscreen.

Yes! I have done a lot of reading on this because I went where the weater is warmer for a while (I'm from Australia.) You can lay in the sun your only real concern is not to get dehydrated or burnt so not a good idea to be in it all day but a few hours is fine..

I think you would be okay if you limit your tanning to only 10-15 minutes at a time (alternating sun and shade so your body doesn't get too hot), where some light suntan lotion, drink a lot of water since you are more likely to get dehydrated, and don't allow yourself to burn, I think you should be fine. Happy tanning!

I am 5 months pregnant and getting married on Saturday. Next week we are leaving for Florida for our honeymoon, and I asked my doctor about sun exposure. She said it was fine, just make sure you are well hydrated, don't sit in the sun for HOURS at a time, and wear sunscreen since you are more likely to burn. I think you will be fine. Congrats! =)
