Yeah I know it sucks, But those are the songs people want to hear (the majority) and a lot of people just listen to the radio on the way to work. The stations have to squeeze in the popular songs for those people who just listen to radio for a short amount of time. Also, people are lazy listeners, and don't want to take the time to hear something different.
What I can't understand is why the Classic Rock station play the same songs over and over again? The songs that they play are no longer enjoyable, when I listen to my favorite classic rock band.

Welcome to the current reality of corporate buyouts of the media, radio stations, brought to you by CLEAR CHANNEL....Only a few owners of all the radio stations, as it is for all the media and newspapers....it used to be that there were many more owners of the radio stations across the countries, they were more independent, and stations from different regions of the country reflected their regional differences by the tastes of that locality. Local bands could even possibly get airplay....but not now, unless you search for independent stations....
Now, the homogenization of american music is taking place---playing the same stuff all across the country. If there's ever an emergency in your area, don't count on hearing about it on the radio---(remember the emergency broadcast system?) the stations playing are broadcast from hundreds of miles away, and will keep playing their canned playlist whilst your area is in chaos.
If you don't like that, find independent stations that play online, and independent sources for news etc....the system now is set up to turn us all into SHEEPLE...brainwashed to think the same, have the same tastes, etc. etc.

Sometimes you actually like a song but after hearing it at least 5 times a day 7 days a week it somehow just starts to irritate you and you don't want to hear it again soon

For THEM it would be, because it would require the people working at those Stations to be doing more WORK -programing more songs onto their "playlists"...-And they wouldn't want to do THAT ! :)
