Is walking away and ignoring it even the best way to go? What do you do when someone insults you?

I did security work for a year and that was the only thing I learned (besides that I hate security work) was to let the verbal assaults slide off. Take a breath and tune them out as you walk away...what do their insults really mean in the scope of your life? Nothing, breath and move on.

I am not the sort to walk away, and even though I try to consider the source, I also enjoy a good match of wits and if all else fails a good knock down drag out fight. But, never in front of my kids.

depends on what they say, but if you're thinking the other way of handeling it is fighting then that aint a good way to go. if u have a temper then a recommend just walking away. it'll save u a lot of trouble and even though its hard to walk away...you'll end up feeling and being the bigger person. <3

No! I find that now-a-days people thrive on insults. The ones that try it on me get a very big surprise. I don't get physical, no need. I get in their face and give intimidation in direct proportions to the offense. People are just looking for my comfort zone. Testing how far they can get before I turn nasty. As it stands no one bothers me with insults anymore. ;)

Sometimes a Silent tongue carries a Strong Heart, most of the time, it's foolish and I end up feeling pity for them.
I also have some research I do for a living on people and their behaviors-so Kindness is sometimes a real killer. It almost always gets them everytime.

sometimes, i think that i really want to shout and answer back.. but, who's loss is it anyway? i can't be perfect for anyone. i just think that why should i even stoop down to his/her level just cuz someone insults me? if i argue, it'll just mean that its true. so, just smile back and flow

I can and do all the time. I live in a neighborhood full of drug addicts and drunks, and take my word for it, they don't have nice personalities!
