General Norman Schwarzkopf, If Bush would have left him alone in the Gulf War. Things would have been a lot different these days. He had it all. He would've rolled over Iraq and taken out Saddam the first time in a couple of days.

my physics teacher [years ago] when i was at school

he had been bomb disposal during WW2 and has lost the whole of his right arm, and all of the fingers on his left hand, with only 2 "stumps" for fingers,
yet he could write beautifully.
he had one of the first prosthetics [basically an arm from a mannequin] held on to his shoulder by a strap that dug terribly into his skin, and used to take this off and throw it at us if we ever misbehaved - god it hurt !!
he had also suffered facial wounds - and you know how horrible kids can be at name calling, yet he had the most beautiful wife
he was so inspiring, so humble, so confident and intelligent, and so "laid-back" -
he became everything I wanted to be

thank you Mr Taylor

I admire the Dalai Lama for his compassion especially when he has been under such scrutiny by the Chinese government. His ability to take stress in stride I find very admirable.
