Just in my opinion... I've never met a smart internet troll, but many with huge egos under the assumption that they're brilliant and everyone else is hideously stupid. I've encountered many people at my university who always talk about how smart they are, as if people who weren't as intelligent as them were inferior at everything. Yet, the most intelligent people I've met (my professors, a few of my peers) almost never brag about it, and even think intelligence doesn't matter. Am I the only person to notice this trend?

Intelligence matters, but those who boast like that are usually empty vessels. Don't give them a second thought.
