Europeans don't have the same likes and dislikes. Europe is comprised of too many different nations for anyone to say that they might all love or hate anything or anyone. In the UK they may like Americans for some specific reasons, and in Albania for entirely different ones. The same goes for dislike. European countries have different histories of American relations through history¤t foreign policies. There is no such thing as the opposition of a whole continent that Europe is, towards another one like America, which is not only the US.

No. We (me and the people I know) don't hate Americans. We do, however, think most Americans are arrogant, ignorant and/or stupid. But of course that's just the stereotype.
And yes, America is geographically isolated from Europe, but that doesn't stop you from cracking a book or looking stuff up on the web. When I lived there, some guy asked where I was from, and then asked me what state my country is in.
And as I went to school there, yes, I have a pretty good idea what the education system there is like.

I am european and I do not hate americans.
Some europeans may dislike americans because they consider them arrocant, ex. I remember some finish girls being angry with americans and calling them bad names because some americans asked them if they have internet in finland.
Some other europeans disagree with the american foreing policy and for that do not like america but most of these people do not have a problem with the american people.
The only people in europe that may hate the american people must be either insane or muslims (which american had been backing in the past, taliban for example)

I don't think that we hate Americans. Maybe we are not the biggest fans of some of your personality features, but then nobody is perfect. What we don't like is that most Americans think that there is no world outside of US and that you rule the world. But again, I'm not saying that everyone thinks so. I am a European and I lived long enough in US to get to know you better. Maybe you should teach geography in school to learn what's out there and travel more. There is a huge difference between Americans and Europeans ... you live to work, we work to live. But that's a different topic.

Hate is such a strong word... Strong dislike would be better I suppose:D
I don't think that anyone hates all the Americans - that would be insane. No one knows all of them and one has to be really stupid to hate someone whom he/she has never met or heard of.
I personally have very strong unpleasant feelings against US foreign policy and ignorance. The problem of Americans is, that they were raised up in such environment (and bad school system), so that they think that really are the best and the only one in the world. They know almost nothing about the world around them.
In other words I completely agree with the first answer on this page.

I think hate is quite strong, I think in reality Europeans are as ignorant about Americans as we are about them. I have read quite a lot of posts from Europeans on here complaining about Americans and in reality most of the time they are wrong. I am not talking foreign policy or wars, I am talking people. They may see a trait that they dislike in Americans but due to ignorance they do not really understand why. I can count hundreds of questions I have read about the ignorance of Americans when it comes to foreign languages, cultures, customs, etc...and the thing that they don't realize is that geographically we are isolated in America. Where as in Europe you want to ski a few hours and you are in another country, here when people want to buy a car where I live they drive to Germany. In America we have skiing, beaches, mountains and can travel for days and never leave our country, so in reality because of that most never do. I am an American who lives in Europe and in truth the Europeans are just as arrogant, and ignorant as they claim Americans to be. It almost funny....Hi kettle your black.....They are no better here, they have fat people, lousy politicians, crappy policies, stupid people, and loud embarrassing people here the same as in America.

I find it a bit odd when Europeans complain that about the American school system (as an example) when they generally know next to nothing about it. Complaining about our foreign policy is legitimate, but there is also a continued pretense of ignoring who taught colonialism and imperialism to us in the first place.
My experience, based on three years of work and travel in Europe, is that the average European is every bit as ignorant about America as vice versa. Here's some samples:
"Do you still fight Indians?"
"Would I be able to go to Hollywood and New York in one weekend?"
"How many guns do you have?"
