The only Autrey I've ever heard of was Gene Autrey, a famous star of westerns in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Your son's middle name doesn't mean they were related, because many children were given one of the two names ... but at least you can tell your son about the story of Gene Autrey ... now that you know the whole name, you can do a 'search' and find out much more information than I could put here.

I found this..
http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.fc/qx/autrey-family-crest.htm and this:
The boy's name Autrey \a(u)-trey, aut-rey\ is a variant of Autry.
The baby name Autrey sounds like Atreo and Adare. Other similar baby names are Aubrey, Amerey, Amorey, Andrey, Atley, Attley, Averey, Aubry, Audey and Audley.
Autrey is a very rare male first name and a very popular surname (source: 1990 U.S. Census).

Gene Aytry was the singing cowboy. He recorded 'Rudolph the Red -Nosed Reindeer', 'Here Comes Santa Claus',
'Back in the Saddle Again', and almost an entire album of Easter songs [ funny, not religious ].
