Prostitution has been portrayed throughout the years as evil or not-so-evil (I won't say 'good'), depending on the situation. Most modern sources will tell you it's evil and a sin. Historical novels (Les Miserables) will tell you it was the only way a starving woman could eat and help her child to survive. Illegal or not, most people today will see prostitution as evil and immoral, because most women today do have other means of earning money, and could opt to not prostitute themselves. However, in the 1800s, sometimes there were no other options available to women.
Prostitution...for me...it's just work.
Cheers.

Yes, and a lost ho at that.
Prostitution is a poor way to make a buck. It is exceedingly dangerous, and can mutilate both mind and body. Very few get out of that profession with mind and body intact.
I think prostitution is as wrong as adultery.
Who would want to hurt that bad as to rent out their body to strangers in such an invasive manner.
It is hard to understand but even in understanding ...it does no good to either party. For the one who understands cannot condone, nor accept it, yet the one who prostitutes themselves cannot be judged by any other.
We as individuals can only make an assessment, but we cannot pass judgement. We can however pass it by. That would put an end to the profession. But that is another debate all together.
Besides, horny, lonely men of poor character abound in this world, they would not pass by a prostitute if they had the funds to rent the woman's body; or the man's body for those more rare occasions.

Hey as long as they are grown people and that if that is what they have to do to support them selves it is none of my business to say otherwise. It's not right but its some peoples only option. I personally think prostitution should be legal it is always gonna go on at least this way it would be in a controlled enviroment it would definately lessen the problem of std's.

I think it's a good way to get a disease or to get yourself killed. What does every mother tell her child? Don't go off alone with a stranger. What do prostitutes do? Go off alone with strangers. See the movie, "Leaving Las Vegas" for a scene of a prostitute who gets raped. That's the real thing. It's hard to imagine someone so desperate that she really, really, really doesn't have any other options. And yes, since 'ho' stands for 'whore' then selling your body for money makes you a 'ho' or a prostitute.

I think it should be legalized and I think there is nothing wrong with it as long as the persons involved are consenting adults. I am not concerned with the females who call it "degrading" to women. It is merely a sexual service which is obviously needed. If it were legal, women would have more power over their profession and also more protection. I guess many of the frequent female flyers who answer here are stay at homes with not much else to do. And the boys doing the heckling are the same. These backward thoughts are what degrade women.

If I had it my way, it wouldn't exist at all, but, sadly, it always will. Therefore, I propose that it is legalized, heavily regulated, and even more heavily taxed. Also, anyone who enters it has to do so purely by choice. If someone is desperate and doesn't really want to be a prostitute, we should help them find something better.

I think it is totally degrading to women, especially those who are doing it. Pardon the pun I would rather they did not have to See themselves for money, but if that is all they have then they need to life. I don't think they need to walk the streets it is so dangerous, the brothels are safer and clean and protected. I am un sure if I could be friends with a prostitute knowing that is what they did. My morals would want me to fix them to do something more respectful and less "dirty"
I personally could never have sex without love and marriage. But women should be in charge of their own bodies. They are adults and should be able to decide what is right for them. But again walking the streets is way to dangerous.

I think it's no one elses business. Provided it happens between consenting adults. Who am I to tell people what they can/cannot do with their bodies?
i would recommend anyone interested in the subject read the works of Carol Leigh, aka "Scarlot Harlot" She's worked as an escort in San Francisco for roughly 30 years, and has been a very outspoken activist for sex worker's rights and freedoms. It can also show you that a lot of escorts and sex workers entered into that kind of work out of choose, and actually are quite happy with what they do. it's condescending and ignorant to automatically assume that a person is a victim.

I think it should be leagalized, taxed and monitored...why...well it doesnt hurt but the 2/group involved its consentual hell the person is even paying for it whats the diffrence in the spred of std's between someone getting paid to whore around and someone who is just sleazy other than someone is getting paid for the services. if it was leagalized they could monotor the whores there wouldnt be so many pimps because now other people would invest and there would be control of std's those who get them wouldnt be able to whore and they would have to answer leagaly if they did pass something along.

In my opinion prostitution is a degrading way to make a living. Just observe your average prostitute, they look like hell. Your body wasn't designed to take and endure that kind of abuse. The people who seek the services of a prostitute are complete losers. They lack the ability and skill to seek out a willing partner for sex that would enjoy their company without payment for the act.
