Thyroid symptons are different depending on if you have an overactive thyroid or an under active thyroid. Some symptons are a swollen neck, everything gets on your nerves, extreme wait gain or weight loss, vision change, horrible cramps during your mentrual cycle...so bad its hard to get out of bed to go to work, school, etc... the only way to know for sure is to go to the doctor and have them check, very easy process. If you do have a thyroid problem they can give you medicine you take every day that will help balance things out.

hi I'm 16 and I suffer from hypothyroidism. I was diagnosed about 3 years ago and there are different types of thyroid problems but even though these didn't affect me I'm pretty sure symptoms include fatigue, depression, some people are heavier if they don't get proper medication, your hair can fall out, and you can become mentally retarded.. like your intellectual capabilities weaken and also heart palpitations my dad was getting recently because he wasn't taking his pills (hereditary for me) (It was discovered that I have hypothyroidism because I was always really small and not growing etc. so I saw an endocrinologist and now I'm good I'm on Synthroid which is a supplement for people with low TSH in their bodies. (TSH is the hormone that controls the thyroids and it is also a growth hormone (?) I believe)
hyperthyroidism includes heart palpitations as well because your body has TOO MUCH of the TSH it needs. it's far worse than hyPOthyroidism and not as easy to control. Insomnia, hand tremors and anxiety, as well as significant weight loss are all symptoms of this type.
get it checked out if you're concerned, a simple blood test will confirm it. I was tested and now I take pills for it. If you have hypothyroidism the most common solution is surgery to remove the thyroid glands but see a doctor honestly it helps a lot and it's always better to find out sooner rather than later.
hope it's not serious. best of luck! hope this helps!!!

An underactive thyroid, also called hypothyroidism, means your thyroid gland does not produce enough chemicals called hormones.
Common signs of an underactive thyroid are tiredness, weight gain and feeling depressed.
An underactive thyroid is not usually serious. It can often be treated successfully by taking daily hormone tablets to replace the hormones your thyroid isn't making.
My friend suffered for hypothyroid 2 years ago. she read a book on the internet which is useful for her disease. you can see the book at: http://adola.net/go/hypothyroidismrevolution/

I had to have my thyroid removed last year after about 5 years of trouble. There are so many symptoms of thyroid problems, but mainly: weight loss or weight gain--losing hair--swollen area in neck--lethargy--heat intolerance. Remember these vary greatly depending on if your thyroid is over- or under- active!

There are two types of thyroid problems: hyperthroidism and hypothroidism. One makes you lethargic, tired and you hair fallout, plus some other things. That's hypo....I think which I had one time. Hyper I think can make you lose weigh but I don't remember the others.
Check webmd.com or another website and you can look up the symptoms. If you have them, go get it checked and they can put you on medication which helps.
