If I'm pregnant will I necessarily miss this months period? like if I had sex say on the 16th and my period is due the next week or if it's that soon after, would I not miss my period until the next one is due? I've always been a little confused....And before you lecture.....We had unprotected sex yes but I am in a long term comitted relationship and being pregnant wouldn't be a bad thing....I just want to know what to expect

when pregnant you should have NO period until after the baby is born. A very few ladies have spotting or a very short 1 or 2 day light period, especially the first 3 months.

It will be the very next period after contraception that you miss. Some women, however, still have their period after becoming pregnant, most often much lighter or just some spotting. From becoming pregnant on, you will miss every period (or have spotting) until you deliver the baby. Then you will bleed for up to six weeks like an extra long period. This is your body getting rid of all the extra blood it created to support the baby while it lived inside you. Your period is the lining of your uterus shedding because it is not needed. When you become pregnant, that lining is needed for the fertilized egg to implant into, therefore it isn't shed as in your normal monthly cycle.
