BC--Before Christ
BCE---Before Christian Era
CE-- Common Era ; Current Era; or Christian Era
(corresponds to the year 1 of the Gregorian calendar, the one we use today)
AD--Latin for "Anno Domini" or "Year of our Lord", sometimes used instead of C.E.

Christian Era? If you did not supply that context, I would have said Chief Executive or some thing like that.
