I don't really know the names of most positions, but I can certainly desribe a few, and yes, even detailed descriptions would be appropriate for Yahoo Answers, as they would involve proper acceptable terms, such as penis and vagina. Talking about sex isn't inappropriate until you begin to talk about sex inappropriately.
I won't describe since you didn't ask, but there are about 12 posititions that my husband and I use regularily, that I could describe and about 3 more that I know of that I wouldn't dare try, but could also describe.
