dogs are very suceptible to separation anxiety if they are close to one person and have no other companion, but that's a learned behavior. if you greet the pet excitedly on your arrival, that makes the next parting more difficult. i could go on, but look up separation anxiety in any pet section and train YOURSELF to train your pet and break this habit. it can become frustrating and damage your relationship with your pet.

If there has been an unexpected change in their routine, animals would behave differently and separation anxiety is one of the problems most current in that situation.

Maybe your pet is clingy because it's sick and is trying to tell you something. You might want to try posting this in the pet category. There might be people there that know more about animal behavior.

Sometimes when I'm preoccupied, my dog will decide I'm neglecting her and become annoyingly needy. Give it some special attention for a day or 2 and it should be reassured that all is well.

Have you left her for a long period of time? More so than usual? It sounds like she or he is suffering from separation anxiety !!!!!
