we should do away with it it is not doing what it started out to do it is just a big rip off let everyone stand up on there own save what they can for the golden years and then half of the jerks on it would have to get jobs like the rest of us do not get me wrong there are lig. people out there that deserve it but alot do not just ripping the gov. off and when they do that we all pay for it everyone is out there trying to get a free ride it is time for people to stand up and be accountable for them self's unless they do deserve it and then we need to change all the rules for qualifications

A few big things:
1) Means testing for all current and future recipients.
2) Raise the retirement age to 67 or 70.
3) Be honest to younger workers/ Do not promise benefits that will not likely be there.
4) Cut other social programs and direct the funds at social security.
5) Begin an eventual privatization of retirement benefits for younger workers.

I would enact the reforms that President Bush proposed several years ago.

Make it so that only people that have contributed can collect.
