Bettman is in the worst position (on his knees).
I would never trade him places.

Bettman-he's about to have his pants sued off. The NBA scandal will be old news by the time the season starts. I don't think the Vick situation is a real problem for Goodell-the guy is gone for good and the morals clause gives Goodell the right to make sure of that. As far as Selig goes, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Stern- The NBA has a black-eye in general and now has this hanging over it. Look at the other leagues. Goodell isn't in that bad of shape. He only came in as commish last year and is doing what he can to handle this properly. He has to be careful with this being Vick's first legal issue and with Vick still only being charged. Bettman, even if he was accused of tampering, really isn't in trouble. The league gets the lowest attention and we all know a Commish helps decide who gets to buy the team. After all they lead the ownership's Union so to speak.

Definitely Bud Selig. He was in charge during the home run boom, and he has to put on a brave face towards the pursuit of a cherished record (owned by Hank Aaron, a man he admires and has befriended) by the very poster child of the steroid movement, Barry Bonds. Like it or not, Selig has to show up to the games to support Barry Bonds. I'm a Bonds fan, and although I'm excited as all getout over his race towards 756, many people believe Bonds was chemically enhanced during the chase. That being said, since Selig lived by the sword, he has to die by the very sword.

The NHL is the only league that is not dealing with a PR nightmare. The Balsillie situation might be unseemly, but it really does nothing to the average fan's perception of the league image.
Bettman is in a unique position. He has an opportunity to take advantage of the other leagues' collective misery while protecting the NHL from the broad brush strokes that will invariably be condemning all sports.
The current state of pro sports might very well lend some validity to the rumours of ESPN's desire to bring NHL coverage back to its network.
As for the commissioner with the heaviest burden to carry, David Stern, no question. He's not dealing with unruly players or cheaters.Instead, he's having to salvage the very integrity of his league.

Although I hate to admit it, Buttman is in the best position. Given the gross rule violations in the other leagues, the last thing the NHL fans are likely to be looking at are the financial issues facing a current or potential owners unless those are benefits. From a simple point of view issue, hockey fans care less about tampering by the league than the other sports do about more direct improprieties by their players.

Wow. What a great question, the thought cross hadn't crossed my mind until now that you mention it. How ironic is all of that? They are all in $hit up to their ears. NBA is a NIGHTMARE right now. Godell seems to run it properly with an iron fist, Selig and Bettman seem lost and retarded.

Only one of them is wide open for legal trouble right now, including the potential of anti-trust or unfair business practices or restriction of trade charges and a potential huge lawsuit against his league. And we all know who he is. The little jerk from California who is in the midst of trying to ruin the most entertaining sport known to man. Dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah Buttman.
