I HAVE A BALL PYTHON TOO!!! haha, his name is Bubba!
As for the whistling, sounds to me he may have the onset of a cold virus...if its followed by mucus, get him to the vet right away...
ALSO! MOST LIKELY SITUATION...his air tube in his bottom jaw has not realigned ....this could cause wheezing, and it takes a few days for it to settle back in...

hes hissing at you. this is there way of saying, stay back or i'll bite you. ball pythons always do this when they are shedding because they cant see, when in the shedding process. just leave him alone and dont touch him. wait until he is done shedding before you try handling him again. he also may have an upper respiratory infection. push up on the bottom of his mouth and if any mucus dribbles out of his mouth, this means he has an infection, and thats when you need to take him to the vet. if there no mucus, then just keep and eyes on him, and maintain his requirments. if things get worse then take him to the vet for a check up. nothing to worry about.

Get him to a vet ASAP!
Pythons need a specific mix of Heat and moisture, and when that is not met they are likely to get pneumonia. Snakes have one dominant lung that runs the length of their body, and when they get pnemonia it's basically a death-sentence.
A good vet can tell by listening what is causing the whistling, where it is. If it's lung-related, an injection (or several) of antibiotics is usually necessary. I have seen otherwise healthy, fat snakes die of pneumonia. I rescued exotics for several years, lost every ball python who came in with pneumonia so I may be a bit paranoid...

sounds like an upper respiratory infection. Get him to a vet for a bacterial culture so the vet can get antibiotics started before it gets any worse.

he needs humidity... a soaking bowl of luke warm water should suffice
their are lots of ways to satisfy the lack of humidity
for now just soak him for 5 minutes and or take him to the vet
before it turns into a respritory infection
