My best Guess is NO, I am in America and there are laws about owning venemous snakes. If you can actually find someone that has them for sale I would think you would have to do it illegally, since you wouldnt be able to get one shipped and past customs. Besides thats a very dumb pet to have and hope your snake savvy as to not DYING when you go to get him out of his shipping crate. Wait what I am saying? PLEASE PLEASE pick him up and give him a BIG BIG kiss for me. Hope the local emergency room (yeah right Taipan venom in Canada) has anti venom for the Taipan in stock, but I doubt you'd last long enough to get there.

I say its a dumb pet if you are not experianced and know what your doing.. its not dumb if its your passion though its not a great idea to own something so dangerous. I have corns, bulls, garters and on occasion will keep and re-release rattlesnakes but thats about as dangerous as I get anything exotic I leave well alone. I dont want to risk it.

i am trying to get a pair of inland taipans right now i have a friend looking for some for me but im in the U.S as for keeping them well depending where you live you may not need permits, in the united states atleast. you can not own venomous snakes in canada and a taipan as a first would be about the worst one you could get. and im sure it would be your last by the time they found anti venom it would pretty much be to late. get a corn snake

sarah im interested in hearing about your friend that has inlands they are not easy to get and i would like to contact him and ask where he got them.. are you sure they are inlands and not png taipans ? also taking the fangs out of a venomous snakes will not last fangs grow back rather quickly and would be replaced in prob a week venomoids are snakes that have the venom glands remove so they cant produce venom they still have fangs tho and a fang could do some real damage if it hit the right spot.

buzz why are keeing venomous a waste of time ? just because you dont have the experience or interest in keeping them doesnt mean anything..

and most people that keep hots dont keep them to show off and most dont even want anyone to know they have them. i dont know where you came up with the whole thing about if you keep venomous that your friends will stop asking to you to hang out or whatever you said.. i have around 60 snakes and 23 are venomous and i still hang out with friends.. lol and some of them are afraid of snakes, you shouldnt keep venomous snakes unless you are experienced and from the sound of the person that posted he shouldnt have one but saying its a waste of time to have one is dumb if ya ask me, what if someone said its a waste of time having a dog what would you say ?

Some snakes can be de-venomized.
What province in Canada?
I took my Snake with me to BC 5 years ago, and researched it then. Venomous snakes, anything CITES three, four, or five, anything over a certain length (I think it was two meters) needed a permit.

But venmous snakes never lose the urge to bite, usually don't make cool pets - you want one that looks big and impressive that you can really show off. Corn Snakes get to 2 meters, relatively easy and if you have the money you can get some exotic colors.

HAHAHAHA first of all an inland taipan can never be descibed as a 'pet' i know someone that has one, and believe me, he has years and years of experiance with venomous and non venomous snakes, for a beginer, wanting to satisfy his matcho needs, yeah go ahead, as already said, it will be your first and last snake!

And yes, snakes can have their fangs taken out, but this is crule and IMO down right wrong. If you want to own a venomous snake, then own one that isn't 'modified' if you can't deal with the fact that they are venomous then don't get one simple as that, there are plenty of beautiful non venomous snakes out there for there to be no need to ripp the fangs out of venomous ones.

All this matcho BS really grates on me, you won't be so matcho when your in hospital begging for aniti venom.

I really hope it is illegal. I'm an australian and I know how deadly they are as they are an australian species. Don't be a tool. Leave this snake for only the best and most experienced snake handlers. By buying a fierce snake you are playing with your life and if it escapes you are risking your families lives as well. I hope this was not a serious question and was more of an attention seek.

You, sir, are a pillock.

What makes you think that such a dangerous animal would be happy in captivity, and would make a good pet (especially since you are clearly inexperienced)? In my view keeping venomous snakes is a waste of time - sure, you have something to boast about (until people get bored and stop inviting you around), but you can't handle it, your neughbours will complain and all the animal activists will hate you. Ask yourself: what's the point?

If you mean that the fight had to be to the death of either yourself or the snake, the best way to win would be to grab the snake by the tail and swing it very quickly and bash it's head a few times on the fence/wall that goes around the outside of the arena.

If you want to end up fined by the local animal regulation agency - go ahead. No it isn't legal to own such a venomous snake.
