I am not looking for the plant itself, just the stalks.

Usually your local supermarket or fruit and veggie store have them, but depending on where you are in the world, it might not be in season. Rhubarb ((YUMMMMM)) is mainly in season during winter. They are sold in stalk bunches but make sure you discard the leaves as they are poisonous. My favourite dish with rhubarb would have to be a rhubarb, apple and blueberry crumble. If you can't get fresh rhubarb at the moment you may want to look in the freezer section of the supermarket. You will find many fruits there that are not available all year round.

Hope this helps.

I want to grow them.
They are very difficult to find here in NC., though I was told to buy them (the stalks) at a farmer's market.

Stores like Whole Foods usually have a better selection of produce than other places. If you have one nearby, you might look there.
