He is innocent until proved guilty, at least that is how it is suppose to be, not tried in the media like most people are, so yes they are being harsh, but that is what happens when you are in the public eye. If found guilty, he should be given the same sentence as any other person for the same crime but he won't.

Yes, I believe people should go to jail for animal cruelty. If a dog attacks a stranger or another dog, then the owner should serve jail time because 99% of the time, the owner is the one who trained the dog to be vicious by abusing him and torturing him. If a dog is vicious on its own, which very very seldom happens, a responsible owner would have a veternarian put him down humanely.
Animals cannot speak for themselves. Dogs are so loving and loyal, all they want to do is please their master. If the master indicates by training that they want the dog to be a fighter, then the dog only wanting love and approval will usually do so.
Did you see the story in the news yesterday about the dog that jumped in front of a toddler when a rattlesnake was about to strike, and took the bites? This episode is very indicative of the nature of most dogs. How could someone then turn around and subject an animal such as this to pain, starvation and suffering?
It's simply beyond comprehension, and anyone who is guilty of animal cruelty is only a few steps away from becoming one who would abuse and torture people.

Well the motto is this u do the crime u do the time. Some of these people who has money think that they are above the law and can not be touched. And if and I did say if he did not have anything to do with it and knew what about it and did nothing about it , he still needs to be punished. From my understanding his cousin was staying there at his home and he end up getting busted and that's how all this got out in the first place. So to answer your question the way I really feel about it is to each it's own. I am not an animal lover but yes if you are showing cruelty to any living thing then yes you should be punished.

What??? How could anyone think everyone is being harsh to a guy who's just been indited on a federal animal cruelty charge and he's on paid leave from his team. Do you think that's a good example for other folks to follow?? He should have been let go from the team, a felony is a felony. He should get a very large fine and a lengthy prison sentence and if the NFL has a backbone, he ought to be banned from the game of pro football like forever.

This is not a 1 time type of thing that Vick did it's a life style that's going on who knew for how long he's been doing this for. Man dogfight is cruel and bloody with death the end result for losing, it's not much of a choice for the dogs is it. What if Vick gets the death penalty for losing game would that be fun or cruel and unusual punishment. Man don't defend him he's a cruel dude, if he goes to jail probably 1 year max.

I think that many cases involving dog fighting and people that raise and keep aggresive dogs need to be punished under the law--with no exceptions---I remember a case in VA where a lady was attacked and killed by a pitbull in her neighborhood--and the owner showed no remorse--and then tried to resist when animal control and the cops came to take the dog away---this kind of thing needs to stop--period

Are you asking whether there should be laws against animal cruelty? Would anyone really say no? Is your questions whether violations should be punishable by jail? That rarely happens, and only in the most extreme cases. Or is your question whether the law should apply to celebrity athletes?

Lets see, soaking dogs and electrocuting them, drowning them, brutally slamming them to the ground until dead. Yes I'm considering dogs that attack people. Dogs that attack people are only reflecting there owners brutality. Those people deserve to do jail time for allowing there vicious animals on the loose.

Michael Vick and his homies are bunch of ghetto trash thugs. The law is more than fair to this idiot jock thug, he is no body if he never made it into pro-sports, just another nappy headed thug. Just look at his attitude to the fans.
I might start watching NFL again and other pro-sports if the commissioner would keep those stupid jocks in line when they break the law and just being ghetto trash.
Today's sports stars "spit" have bad attitude, look at Barry STEROID Bond, Gary "IF YOU AINT ALL BLACK" Sheffield, majority of NBA hoodlums. If you call them bad and decipline them, they will yell racism and cry to Rev "I had a bastard child with a whore" Jackson or Rev "Give me money" Sharpton for "Black support".
The policy for any pro-sport should be "ZERO tolerance" for any of the jocks to get out of line. They are being overpaid to play sport anyway. They should be controled.

Yes, people need to be subjected to legal consequences for cruelty to animals. People who allow their dogs off leash, when knowing better, need punishment also. This is the law and I uphold it, as everyone need do.

Vick committed a number of crimes. He became in contact in playing, money laundering, and unlawful drugs to boot to the dogs battling. to boot, he reached a plea good handle the U. S. Att'y, then broke it by utilising mendacity approximately lots of the money laundering, AND the fool used unlawful drugs jointly as out on bail *understanding* that he became going to ought to post to drug assessments. IMHO he merits each and every thing he have been given. "additionally, he faces State fees for the comparable crime and could do further detention center time for that. One crime 2 prosecutions state and federal and no double jeopardy." No, diverse crimes. The Feds prosecuted him for breaking FEDERAL regulations concerning to the interstate dealing he took area in by utilising vacationing to fog fights for the duration of State lines. The State fees relate to pastime that befell on the kennels in State. Richard
