in one direction, but can that same automotive 12 volt generator discharge the same amount of power while rotating to the left or the right, the question includes generators from around 1990 back to the older ones in the sixtys, thanks for your answers,

I thought the fan on the pulley side was used to draft cool air from the back into the hot core pulling the heat out to the front, if the fan turns the other way how could it push air out the smaller holes in the back side?

Your question does not make any sense. A generator, or better known as alternators generate electrical power when rotated. It has nothing to do with cooling. In fact, friction and loss will cause it to heat up, not cool down. Air circulation and conduction is usually sufficient to cool it down just enough so that it will not burn up.

An older generators (from 50s and 60s) will function about the same.

The matter is not in the cooling so much as it is in the direction of current. The brushes are fixed in one direction so the direction of travel or movement must be consistent. Turning in an opposite direction would reverse the voltage, on many models.
Your question would depend on how the brushes are worn and whether or not the generator has already been polarized. As for taking a polarized generator from one side of the engine and transferring it to the opposite side, some alterations would be needed which would include getting one that is wired and polarized properly.

You are talking about an Alternator.
Generators were phased out in the mid sixties.
An alternator ca generate current in either direction as well as cool itself.
