Waimscotting is a style of design. It is usually a material placed on a wall at the bottom and extended up to the height desired. Most is capped with a chair rail molding. Beadboard is a type of paneling which is sometimes used for wainscotting.

I always thought wainscoting refered to paneling that was chair-rail height and that beadboard was a type of paneling that was used on the entire wall. Hmmm...

I thought bead board was thinner and not a solid,sturdy wood like wainscoting. I know what both are and that is the difference as far as I am concerned.
