more often than try to answer rationally and with purpose?
I know that all people from all sides do the same thing, but some of these republicans really go out of their way to turn a good question into a name calling, smear fest. I see it alot with liberal and dems too, but the repub are a lot more vicous about it and feel the need to keep going on like a child.

for those that answered, if you so happen to come back to this, I asked a decent question. I don't understand why someone would answer this, especially from a Top Contributor, with a remark about the very think I asked about. I was not asking to start a ruckus, I was curious to find out why the ill will and hate, it seems, to people that have diff views.

Politicians love to cause division among voters. So that we are blinded to the real issues. Divide and conquer. Don't fall into the hate trap. We need to throw out the two party system and dispose of the corporate driven agenda.

Your right all sides do it, but the neo-cons seem often to not really understand why, but just accept a rather dogmatic line (kind of like ditto heads). It is easier than thinking and some of my fellow progressives do it too.
there also seems to be a mean spirit among the most conservative in that group. perhaps it is a part of the lack of tolerance to change that is inherent in being conservative.
There is an old addage that is used for people who give answers and don't understand what they believe in or why.
If you can't dazzle a person with brilliance, then baffle them with BS. If that doesn't work then just start calling names!
I think that is the principle that this type of person adheres to.
Have a good day!
Good point!

It is the nature of US politics to smear the other side. Unfortunately, we all are the other side to someone. Hardly anyone wants to debate on the merits of their position. Most won't even give you their position, they just want to throw dirt at your position.
The majority of American voters are somewhere in the middle. The democrats keep sending down the left wing candidates and the republicans keep sending down the right wing candidates. What I really want to know is when will the American electorate finally get fed up with the petty bickering that our two parties are doing and throw ALL the bums out on their collective asses. Let's put entirely new people into all the legislative and executive branches and give the new guys/ladies a chance to do something with the money that we keep sending to the government. First order of business, cancel the retirement benefits for the "career" politicians.

Have to disagree with your point "the repub are a lot more vicious...." I've gotten some horrendous emails from libs who's language would make a sailor blush. The most disgusting one was from a lib who didn't like my pro-life stance. I would say it's pretty even on both lib and conservative views. I don't like it on either side when people start using foul language, it just shows a person lack of vocabulary skills. As for name calling, while I don't like it, I'm sure I've been guilty a time or two.

I wish they would just have a slug fest and just go for it and get it over with! Cowards backstab each other, just like children.

Because they don't want to talk about the abysmal failure of the Bush administration over the last six years.
And they can't challenge the Dem candidates on their records, again because the neo-cons have botched up so much.
So all they can do is talk about Hillary PMS, or use Obama's middle name, or Edwards haircut.
How the mighty have fallen!

Usually we are just trying to dummy it down so the liberals can understand what we are trying to say. I mean we are arguing with people who think it is ok to kill a baby, but save a terrorist...when trying to communicate with mindsets like that, a high intellect is a handicap.
