I know its not good to take any meds, but I get severly depressed without it. My doc allowed me to continue it, but I dont want to if it will hurt the baby.

Celexa falls into pregnancy category C. There are A, B, C, and X. X is do not take, known to cause side effects. C means they don't have enough research to determine whether or not it will cause harm to the baby.

I also suffered from depression and anxiety my entire life and the only time I didn't was when I was pregnant. You could try to stop the medication and see if you are okay and if not then return to using it.

They say it is better to have you in a healthy mind state then to suffer with depression but it could harm your baby. I do think you and the baby should be fine if you do have to continue it. There are many pregnant women on anti-depressants.

I took Celexa during my 1st pregnancy, my OB allowed me too and even advised me to because at the time I was severely depressed (or so everyone thought, I ended up being diagnosed as bipolar, but thats a whole other story).

I would take it if you really need the help for your depression. The benifits may outway the risk. If you do choose to stop taking it, do it only under the supervision of your doctor, dont stop meds cold turkey.

I am trying to conceive and am having issued with taking my bipolar meds while doing so, and while pregnant, but in the long run I also know that my bipolar get 100x worse when Im pregnant because of the added emotional ups and downs. So the benefit will definitely outway the risk in my situation.

I personally do not think it a good idea to take anti depressants while pregnant.

As an example. My daughter began having panic attacks after her first child was born. When she became pregnant the second time she stopped taking her med and while she was pregnant she did not suffer any symptoms which I believe was caused by the change in body chemistry and hormones during pregnancy.

With her third baby her doctor allowed her to stay on Prozac, which I was against as it can cause heart problems and pulmonary hypertension in new borns.

Now there are several class action suits due to these conditions of taking anti depressant drugs during pregnancy.

My grandson did not have either of these problems but it is a concern imho.
