I am going to get an ultrasound soon, because I have been having really bad cramps and they want to check my internal organs just in case something is wrong. The best thing you should do is ask her, because a marriage must have communication to be healthy.

The doc is probably gonna check for a cyst or fiberous tumor(which most of the time both go away on there own). But he is also gonna see where it(cyst) is b/c if it's big enough it may have to be monitored more! He's probably gonna do a pelvis ultrasound not a sonogram! Kinda the same thing except they do on the tummy and in the vagina too! Don't worry till there is something to worry about its good she say the doc if shes in pain!

A pelvic transvaginal ultrasound is a standard part of the work-up. Most of the time, big problems such as large growths of the ovaries can be ruled out just from a physical examination. However, sounds like your wife may have a particular type of hormone imbalance that sometimes gives a clue by the way the ovaries look on ultrasound. Don't worry. The sonogram won't hurt her, and will probably show that things are normal. I encourage you to go with her when she has it done.

Sonograms are used for all sorts of reasons, the most popular of course is for pregnancy but that's not all they're used for. They are a very effective way of checking the function of organs and systems in the body, making sure they're working, if they have cysts, or any other irregularities. In fact, though it's exciting for a parent to see their baby, the ultrasound is mostly used for measuring and looking to see if the baby's organs are forming correctly, not to determine the sex. The doctor could be checking for problems in her gall bladder, kidneys, bladder, or any of the organs in her body.

She could have a cyst or she could be pregnant. There are a lot of different reasons to give a woman a sonogram. I had to get one when I was 13 (not sexually active) because I was having female problems.
