Point-Slope form is: y - y1 = m(x - x1).
Given: (5,5) & m=-3,
y - 5 = -3(x - 5)
y - 5 = -3x + 15
y = -3x + 20
Given: (-1,5) & m=-1,
y - 5 = -1(x - (-1))
y - 5 = -(x + 1)
y - 5 = -x - 1
y = -x - 1 + 5
y = -x + 4.
The final problem is left for you.

The equation y=-3-30x will not pass through the point (5,5), nor does it have a slope of -3.
You already know the slope, so you just need the offset. So say:
y=mx+b
5=(-3)(5)+b //the information you have in slope-point
5=-15+b //multiply
b-15=5 //put what you're solving for on the left
b=5+15 //isolate your variable
b=20 //add
now check your answer:
y = mx+b
y = -3x+20 <-- this is the answer.
so does -3*5+20 = 5? yes, it does.

Given a point (5,5), and slope = -3, use the point-slope form, or
(y-5)/(x-5) = -3, cross multiply
y-5 = -3(x-5) or
y-5 = -3x +15, move 5 over
y = -3x +15 + 5.
y = -3x + 20.
Please correct your answer, and REPEAT the above steps for each problem.
Good luck.

To solve point slope problems, start with
y = mx + b
You are given m and have to find b. This is where your point comes in. Substitute the point coordinates in the equation, and solve for b.
In your first problem (which is wrong):
y = -3x + b
To find b, sub 5 for x and 5 for y.
5 = -15 + b
b=20 and y = -3x + 20
If you understand this, you should whiz through the other three.

1)
(5,5)
m=-3
y = mx + c
5 = (-3)5 + c
5 = -15 + c
5 + 15 = c
c = 20
y = -3x + 20
2)
(-1,5)
m=-1
y = mx + c
5 = -1(-1) + c
5 = 1 + c
5 - 1 = c
c = 4
y = -x + 4
3)
(-1,0)
m=2
y = mx + c
0 = 2(-1) + c
c = 2
y = 2x + 2

y = mx + b
m = slope, b = y intercept
(5,5) where m = -3
y = -3x + 20
(-1,5) where m = -1
y = -1x + 4
(-1,0) where m = 2
y = 2x + 2
Hope this helps, let me know if you need explaining. =]

ok, you purchased the slope perfect suited so which you a minimum of be responsive to that y=a million/2x+b. To get b, replace the factor (-3,a million) to get a million=a million/2 * -3 +b and remedy for b: a million= -a million.5 + b or b=2.5. subsequently, the suited answer would be y=a million/2x+5/2.

y -y1 =m(x-x1); and (x,y) is (5,5)
y -5 =-3 (x-5), expand and combine like terms;
y= -3x +15 +5;
y = -3x +20: watch your signs!!
If you can follow the above the next two are easy!

1.
y = mx+b
5 = -3(5)+b
5 = -15 + b
b = 20
so...
y = -3x+20
2.
y = mx+b
5 = -1(-1)+b
5 = 1 + b
b = 4
so....
y = -1x + 4
3.
y = mx + b
0 = 2(-1)+b
0 = -2 + b
b = 2
so...
y = 2x + 2
