You know what my husband was in the service, and he made a lot of friends there that also became my friends, and I support our troops. All that means is you except what they do for us by giving us our freedom and insuring that it stays that way. We have had a couple come back to the states hurt and I have never heard of them saying they was mistreated in any fashion. The hospital that they go to are run by the military. The military has their own way of doing things, he has Scoliosis and all they do is give some Tylenol and water therapy.

You make too many assumptions. When asking for support of troops, we ask for proper treatment from the VA. We ask for education benefits to bring them back on par with the society they've been absent from for their service. We ask for support in recognition of bravery and honoring choices that they made. We ask for support, because we are asked for it from them. We ask for support in not letting the sacrifices they've made go unnoticed, forgotten, or worse yet, in vain. Any "approval" I've had about being in Iraq comes from servicemen and women that I know personally, (both brothers, two cousins, and aunt and uncle (siblings)). I'm a vet myself and I've heard the "locker room" conversations about what we need to do and how not to do it.
No one sends a soldier to his death. A soldier is sent on a mission, one that he believes in and will fight to accomplish. If there is no reason you can fathom fighting for, than no noble idea is valuable to you.
I hold those that fight against their mission (including those that undermine it) responsible for any soldier's death.

Because "support the troops" in many people's mind means blind unquestioning loyalty to everything in any possible way related to the military.
As opposed to say.... respecting the troops for doing the duty, and respecting them for being courageous, but still being open to participating in the political process through open discussion and debate.

Why is it that liberals want to turn the troops into an oppressed victims class? Every time you guys talk about the troops, they're victims of something. Never a word of appreciation for the job they do.

Liberals hate the thought of giving support for anyone who is bravely fighting for the country they hate.
