The maximum it can go for is 5 days - that's in test cricket. 2 innings for each team. Total of 4 innings. 90 overs per day x 5 days = 450 overs + 10 extra on the final day. A total of 460 overs.
In ODI cricket - it's as it's name says. Just one day. 50 overs a side. 2 innings.
In 20/20 cricket it's just 20 overs per side and a ttal of 2 innings.
In first class cricket - it can depend from 4 - 2 days. Mostly 4. 90 overs per day as same as in tests.
In school cricket it's just 2 days and in some occassions 3. Overs remain the same.

There had been some timeless test matches. here's the last of that sort:
"The last ever timeless Test was the 5th Test between England and South Africa at Durban in 1939, which was abandoned as a draw after 9 days of play spread over 11 days because otherwise the England team would have missed the boat for home. This match had started on March 3 South Africa had set a target of 696 for England to win. By the time the captain decided he had to leave port, on March 14, England had reached 654 for 5 so would have been the more likely winners if the match had continued."

The last time a 6 day test match was held was in 14-19 October, 2005 at the SCG in Sydney, Oz - Austaralia vs. World XI. Aussies won the test by 210 runs in 4 days.
AUS 1st Inns : 345
World XI 1st Inns : 190
AUS 2nd Inns : 199
World XI 2nd Inns :144

It just cant go on forever, international matches are of the following types:

1) 5 days ( around 8 hours a day including scheduled breaks )
2) 1 day ( 8 hours including breaks )
3) 20/20 ( takes around 3-4 hours )

There are also 3 day games at the fist class level

ya.... if it is termed so or for any special cause as zoey has given few good exaples of the occasions..... but as a weird line of fact we can assume a crucial cricket test match in the test match world cup is suspended for so many days due to war broken in the hosting country or any natural calamity occured in that specific geographical region wherein the test match is being held............. ICC doesn't have any regulation predefined in such kinda circumstance.................

If it facilitates make attempt cricket greater widely used then i'm going to have not have been given any situation with it. yet commonly i do no longer in basic terms like the belief and for my area think of it wouln't make a great distinction. attempt cricket is performed in white, its the custom, attempt cricket is custom. so which you're changing something it is important ingredient of attempt cricket. Trials are happening nevertheless so might desire to attend and spot what sort of impact they might have. i might prefer orange ball over purple nevertheless.
